I would say this year was a pretty good year for us . We opened Kohakuan, the first machiya accommodation in August and met a lot of people from different countries.

Shikokuan, our second machiya will be opened early next year. This machiya is located near Kawaramachi Station, a prefect location for sightseeing and shopping. You can always check our website (http://www.kyoto-machiya-inn.com), facebook site (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Machiya-Residence-Inn-Kyoto/129207050467744) or twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/KyotoMachiyaInn) to receive our updated information. There will be more machiyas coming up next year and so we will keep you posted.

I would like to thank all the guests who stayed with us this year and all the people who support Machiya Residence Inn . Next year we will continue to entertain more people and make your trip to Kyoto a memorable one!!

Have a happy new year!!!

Kyoto Central Station

No matter which transportation you use, the first place you visit in Kyoto is Kyoto Central Station. It is a train station attached to the hotel, department stores, cultural facilities such as an art gallery and theater. There is also a bus terminal in front of the station, which is the starting point for visiting various sightseeing spots in Kyoto. Furthermore, a new shopping mall called Aeon Mall has been opened since this year. This is located a 5 minute walk from the Hachijo Exit.

At the station building there is a wide range of restaurants available and so if you are not sure what to eat for dinner you will see many choices there.  This is just another travel information for you. Enjoy!!

The backstreet of Kyoto

As the old Capital of Japan, there are many cultural heritage sites that remain in Kyoto.

I know visiting shrines and temples is one of the "must do" things when you are in town but one day of your stay I recommend you take a walk to some of the backstreets of the city to explore the undiscovered faces of Kyoto.
