Local Information

Local Information

Surrounded by UNESCO recognized temples, within walking distance of both popular & hidden gems of Kyoto -- the perfect place to start your exploration of this city.
Nestled between two grand, and important temples of Kyoto: Higashi Honganji Temple & Nishi Honganji Temple. One is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while the other is considered to be not only the largest wooden structure in Kyoto, but in the world.

Experience first-hand everything this historical city has to offer. Jump on the subway to travel north towards the Imperial Gardens, or head south to the lesser known Kyoto sake brewing districts of Fushimi. You’ll also find plenty of bus stops that will take you to the Higashiyama area of Kyoto, and the bamboo forests of Arashiyama.

Nishiki Market is a popular sightseeing attraction, but we also recommend the always bustling Kyoto Chuo Oroshi Ichiba (fish auction & markets). You’ll also discover plenty of local favorites -- from restaurants, cafes, and shops during your stay at Sekka-an.
