“Hanakagari” machiya house is located in a neighborhood known as Zaimokucho-- an area where timber and lumber shops lined the streets. From Japanese ryokan inns, to wooden machiya houses, these lumber zaimokuya shops were an integral part of society.

We ask for advance payment of full accommodation fees for guests who have made a reservation with Machiya Residence Inn. The reservation will remain as a “tentative reservation” until payment has been confirmed. All payments must be made within 7 days of making a reservation.
When a reservation request has been received, we will send an email instructing you on payment methods.* Payments are accepted in Japanese YEN via: 1) Credit Card transaction via Paypal, or 2) Bank Wire Transfer to our nominated bank account.
*We seek your understanding that all transaction fees involved are under guest responsibility.
Once the payment has been confirmed, you will receive a booking “Confirmation Email” from Machiya Residence Inn. The email will include important information regarding check-in, access maps, instructions on how to enter the house, and more.
We kindly ask that you inform our staff in advance of your approximate arrival time as your date of arrival (check-in date) approaches.
Cancellation of an accommodation booking may incur cancellation charges.
A cancellation that is made more than 29 days prior to the arrival date is subject to a full refund minus any PayPal or Wire Transfer fees involved in receiving and returning the original payment.
