ABOUT THE MACHIYA HOUSE
A machiya house first built during the early Showa Period that has been beautifully restored. Characteristic machiya features can be found throughout the house, such as the dark, wooden lattice windows (“bengara-goushi”) and the white “mushiko” windows of the 2nd floor.
There are many restaurants around Kyoto, but cooking is also possible with the fully functional kitchen at this machiya. Many of the antiques dish ware found in this house have been designed using the “Inban (printing)” method.
A beautiful garden may be seen through veranda by sliding up "yukimi-shoji" (paper sliding screen) from the first floor living room. From mid-March to mid-April, you will be able to enjoy your very own cherry blossoms (sakura) from the comfort of the living room.
There are 2 bathrooms located on this property (1st & 2nd Floor). Each bathroom has been fixed with luxurious bathtubs made of the Podocarpus wood, and showerhead. The 2nd floor bathtub is equipped with a TV to help you relax.
During your stay, unwind in this room after a long day of traveling around the historical city of Kyoto. In the winter, utilize the kotatsu (low table with a built-in heater).
・2 futon bedding can be set here
Windows are designed with not only shoji paper, but also double-glazed glass to ward off the cold winters, and provide a cool space during the hot summer.

A cozy, tatami-lined den. The paper sliding doors have been designed on a lightly-colored "torinoko" Japanese paper, and using the Kyoto-style karakami of woodblock printing.
