Located in Kyoto's historical Higashiyama area. A short walk to the Gion area, Kiyomizu Temple, and Yasaka Shrine.
Gion & Miyagawa-cho are known as two of Kyoto's five historical Hanamachi districts (flower districts) - an area where geisha (maiko) women entertain patrons through traditional song, dance, and games. The streets in these areas are paved with stone while traditional wooden machiya welcome patrons with red paper lanterns. You'll also find the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto, Kenninji Temple, in the area along with Yasaka Shrine, Maruyama Park, and more.
'Hanatoki' machiya house is within walking distance to many restaurants (both traditional and modern), in addition to several convenience stores, bus stops, and Kiyomizu-Gojo train station.
